The great experience of the Cortem Group is the result of years of research and development of new products keeping up with the new technologies and the needs of a very demanding market in terms of safety. This is strongly revealed in our Research&Development office, where new projects of more innovative, secure and reliable products take shape every day. Safety and reliability are well-rendered in the Research&Development laboratory where all products are tested severely.

Since 2009 Cortem Group has and internal R&D laboratory equipped with all the latest equipment to perform the main tests required for the certification of explosion-proof electrical products. The laboratory is used both to test new prototypes and validate a new project, and to periodically check the products in production as required by Ex Standard.

The tests that are carried out in the Laboratory Cortem Group are:

• Tests in a climatic chamber: complete accelerated aging cycles (heat thermal resistance), wet heat and dry heat environment. Thermal resistance to cold. Maximum test temperature of + 180° C, minimum test temperature of -70° C.

• Shockproof test according to product Standards.

• IP tests: dust test chamber (IP6X), equipment for water testing IP x5 and X6. Tank IPX7 test.

• Test for corrosion in salt spray. 

• Restricted breathing test
• Thermal shock test
• Automatic equipment for hydrostatic testing of overpressure

• Thermal tests with temperature detector with thermocouples
• EMC Tests (Electromagnetic Compatibility)
• Dielectric strength test
• Test "op is": irradiance emitted by LED sources.

The Friuli Venezia Giulia in 2010 recognized the Cortem Group Research&Development Laboratory as highly qualified Structure in the field of analysis of materials with particular reference to Ex-protected equipment, after examining the organization, the provision of equipment, as well as the high specialty of the company.
